June 17, 2024 marks the five-year anniversary for Skarin Law Group. Our journey to this exciting milestone includes so many memorable moments. As we reflect, we also look forward with the same commitment to providing clients with the zealous advocacy that we are known for while also giving them the attention that they need and deserve that started it all.
How Skarin Law Group Started
Skarin Law Group, APC was founded in June of 2019 by Matthew K. Skarin, California’s only Certified Family Law Specialist who is also an active Certified Public Accountant; he also holds a California Real Estate Broker License. Before attending law school, Matthew worked for the accounting firms of Deloitte & Touche and Miller and Co., doing both tax and compliance work. He then spent over ten years working for FMBK Law, one of the largest family law practices in Los Angeles. After four years there as partner, Matthew decided to create his own firm designed around his unique skills and experience to provide the top-quality services of a large law firm without the large law firm rates.
The Skarin Law Group Difference
In 2019, Matthew saw an opportunity to provide top-rate family law litigation expertise at a reasonable rate, increasing access to important services for some who could not otherwise afford them. As the only certified family law specialist and active certified public accountant in all of California, Matthew Skarin offers clients an unmatched level of valuable experience. His proven skill in financial and real estate matters distinguishes him from the many other family law attorneys, even those charging premiums much larger than those at Skarin Law Group. Still today, Matthew personally oversees all matters in the firm and navigates even the most complex family law cases with artful expertise.
Our Favorite Memories
Started with only a single attorney, Skarin Law Group now is made up of five talented family law lawyers. Each time that we were able to grow our staff and add to the collection of skills and experience this firm can offer was special. And all of those hires have led to our firm becoming one of the largest family law firms in the South Bay! Another great memory is moving into our brand-new office in El Segundo from our original location in Manhattan Beach.
The Challenges That Surprised Us
2020 brought with it the COVID-19 pandemic, so before we could even celebrate our one-year anniversary, we had to pivot and adapt. Working from home and training new attorneys remotely were only some of the challenges we faced. We are fortunate to have learned how to be successful and keep moving forward, making our five-year anniversary milestone even sweeter.

Without our clients, we would not be where we are today. Our strong values guide everything we do, and have been pivotal in our success. Over the last five years, our values have not changed. At Skarin Law Group, we:
